Forest Belle sits atop a large wooden deck and features a private firepit, outdoor seating, double-wide hammock and private loo. Live your best boho dream at the Cosmic Nomad at this tiny house getaway in the Catskills Mountains, a lovingly handcrafted and meticulously detailed off-grid covered wagon. A vision of the Victorian vardo in the picturesque Catskills Mountains, built with locally sourced and reclaimed materials which serves our mission of sustainability while offering a unique back-to-nature experience surrounded by outstanding natural beauty.
This artisan cabin is our third unique lodging experience that builds on the same principles of sustainability and connection to nature via lovingly handcrafted structures. It features a large custom-made round window for spectacular stargazing, and daydreaming, while you relax, disconnect and enjoy the sprawling, lush landscape and mountain views.
Building The Cosmic Nomad
In 2018 we bought a 1920’s John Deere wagon on craigslist and it sat in our yard for a little over 3 years before we finalized our build plans. From the bowed ceilings to the round window to the built in kitchenette and the reclaimed barn wood wall cladding, everything is custom built. Off-Grid Tiny House Upstate New York
The Birdhouse features a 6 ft skylight above the bedroom, an ode to the awe-inspiring skies of the Meeker Hollow, one of the best spots for stargazing in NY state, and an 11ft-tall window wall in the living space, framing the sprawling, lush landscape. Right outside there’s a shade structure that we built out of branches from the nearby forest and a patio with private fire pit made of flat rocks from the old stone wall on the property. Guests have access to the outdoor shower and private composting toilet. The cabin is off the grid, we provide solar lights and battery-powered lanterns to try and keep the light pollution in the stargazing field at a minimum. Come visit and experience this place for yourself, whether it’s during Spring months when the apple trees blossom and the fireflies abound, Summer when the wildflowers bloom or during our spectacular Catskills fall foliage.
Building the Birdhouse
The Birdhouse is our first off-grid tiny house that we build during the Spring and Summer of 2020. Most of the materials used in construction are either locally sourced or reclaimed. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of building this tiny house from cardboard model to the hand painted wallpaper. A lot of love, thought and consideration went into creating this space. Reconnect with nature at Bellfire. This glamping getaway is located in one of the best places for stargazing in NY, under a generous canopy of maple trees near a babbling brook with miles of forest to roam in a sparsely populated, picturesque area for a perfect private getaway.
Custom-made furniture, wool blankets, cedar floors and handmade décor pieces have been carefully curated to create a space that is meditative, relaxing, and practical. There is undeniable magic in sitting around a bonfire inside a Tipi and listening to the stream and waking up to the sounds of the wind and birds singing.
